Our work on sustainability and sustainable textile development

At Bandi, our sustainability efforts are based on our relationship with nature and how we see the future. That’s why we’re striving to minimise our environmental footprint for our generation, and for generations to come, and to take responsibility for our actions. This is a team effort and every employee, supplier and partner has an important role to play. It’s all about taking health and the environment into consideration when developing our products. Quality before price, from raw material to finished product. It’s also about economic stability and the importance of long-term profitability, which will allow us to pursue our sustainability efforts effectively - a must for any responsible business.

We have an ISO 9001 quality certification and produce textiles according to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 and Reach. We are also AAA-rated (the highest possible credit rating) since 1992. Furthermore, since 2012 we have been able to call ourselves a diamond-certified company which means that we have maintained the highest credit rating for more than 20 years. When importing or producing raw materials, shoe care products and shoe accessories externally, we work according to a strict code of conduct and prioritise stakeholders who are affiliated with the Ethical Trading Initiative.

Sustainable production

In-house dying

In our dye-works, where we process and dye our textile products, we have a clear aim of minimising how much we pollute the environment around us. Together with our pigment and chemical suppliers, we are transitioning to more eco-friendly alternatives. We are actively collaborating with the Environmental Agency in Kumla Municipality to push our environmental work forwards.

Reach and Swedish environmental legislation

Reach is an EU Directive that applies across the EU and in Sweden. The Directive has several aims, such as ensuring that chemical substances are used safely with respect to people’s health and the environment. An obvious goal for everyone and one which promotes innovation within EU companies. Reach is also a guarantee which gives us a competitive edge when dealing with customers both within and outside of the EU. While Sweden is at the cutting edge when it comes to public regulations and legislation on sustainability, we consider these to be the bare minimum. We believe it is in our interest to maintain even higher standards.
